Don’t Let Credit Card Mandates Break Small Business Hearts this Valentine’s Day

Durbin-Marshall Credit Card Bill is a Heartbreaker for Small Businesses and Consumers

The Small Business Payments Alliance (SBPA) shared Valentine’s Day chocolate with Congressional offices today, asking Congress to show some love to small businesses that depend on the safety and security of electronic payments. The SBPA’s message was delivered along with craft chocolate bars from Sol Cacao, a bean-to-bar chocolate manufacturer located in the heart of the South Bronx and a member of the SBPA

The truth is the Durbin-Marshall Credit Card Bill is no love story for consumers or small businesses. It’s a sweetheart giveaway to corporate mega-stores like Walmart, Amazon, and Target. Meanwhile, weakening fraud protections, slashing access to credit for small businesses and low-income Americans, and eliminating credit card rewards—costing billions and putting the U.S. economy at risk.
